01 The Setup
Context & Problem
Financial literacy products often overwhelm users with information density or oversimplify to the point of uselessness. The challenge: design an educational flow that adapts to what the user knows and how they learn.
I designed the full component library and token system, the adaptive learning flow architecture, and the AI-assisted personalisation layer, a concept study carried from IA through to engineering handoff.
02 Design Decisions
What We Tried & Why We Pivoted
Token-first component system
Built a semantic token layer that allowed themes to shift across learning contexts (calm/focus mode, assessment mode, celebration mode) without redesigning components.
Progressive complexity
Each module introduced one concept at a time, with the AI layer adjusting the depth and pace based on demonstrated comprehension from prior responses.
Adaptive personalisation layer
Designed the AI-assisted personalisation UX so the learning flow responded to what the user already knew, surfacing harder material only once the foundations were demonstrated.

04 Reflection
What I'd Do Differently
Design systems are product design infrastructure. Getting them right multiplies every designer and engineer who builds on top of them.
